Since the opening of the Samara campus of Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU), great attention has been paid to the study of foreign languages. At the inception of the Department and Faculty of Foreign Languages stood Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Lyubov Nikolaevna Filimonova, the first Dean of the Faculty. The Faculty has been preparing foreign language teacher specialists since 1998.

The Faculty comprises 3 departments:

• Department of Philology and Mass Communications
